From the homepage, click on the SEARCH PETS option. Once on the search page, you can search all pets in the Lostandpound.com database by simply clicking SEARCH without entering any search criteria. To narrow your search, you can enter your search criteria in the boxes provided and then click the SEARCH button.

How do I post a lost or found pet?

On the Lostandpound.com homepage, go to “LOST PET?” if you’ve lost a pet or “FOUND PET?” if you’ve found a pet. Fill out the form as completely as possible. Once you hit SUBMIT PET, your posting will automatically be sent via email to our network of animal welfare organizations and volunteers within 45 miles.

Do I need a password to post a lost or found pet?

When you post a lost or found pet on Lostandpound.com, you will be asked to create a password. It is important to remember your password. This password will allow you log in to your Lostandpound.com account once you’ve posted your pet to add, edit, delete or print a posting.

How do I upload my pet’s picture?

On the posting form, there is a box entitled PICTURE. Click on the BROWSE button to search for the desired picture on your computer. The picture must be no larger than 2MB in size and must be in a JPEG, EPS or BMP format.

Why is it important that I post a picture of my pet?

When you are posting a description of a lost or found pet, it is very important to post a picture of your pet. Without a picture, it is very difficult for someone to recognize your pet since everyone has a different way of describing animals. Photos can help speed up reuniting pets ten times faster than descriptions that do not include photos. Additionally, posting a photo is the only way you will have the opportunity to include your pet in our “Featured Case” section of our homepage. Pets without pictures will not be featured on our homepage.

How do I delete my posting?

Log in to your account using the email address and password that you created when you first posted your lost or found pet. You will have the option of deleting your posting from your account.

Why is it important that I delete my posting?

It is important to delete your posting once your pet has been located in order to give other pets on Lostandpound.com the same opportunity to be found.

Why aren’t there more organizations in your network that are within my zip code?

It is Lostandpound.com’s goal to be the largest national resource for reuniting lost and found pets with their owners. As we are a small staff compared to the thousands of animal welfare organizations around the country, we will continue to build our national network in order to become as effective a resource as possible.

How do I contact an owner about a lost or found pet?

From a lost or found pet alert on your email, click on “Link to Pet Details.” It will take you the pet’s full description. At the bottom of that page, click on “Contact Pet Owner.” That form will allow you to contact the owner. If you’re searching all pets from the website, you can click on the picture of the pet which will take you to their full description. Click on “Contact Pet Owner” at the bottom of that page.

Does Lostandpound.com actively go out and help find my pet?

No. Lostandpound.com is an online resource only. The website helps expedite the process through which pets are reunited with their owners by communicating via email with organizations and volunteers in your area.

How do I print out a poster of my lost or found pet that I can hang around the neighborhood?

Log in to your account using the email address and password that you created when you first posted your lost or found pet. You will have the option of printing your posting from your account. It will be formatted as a poster that you can hang around your neighborhood.

How long will my posting stay on Lostandpound.com?

Your posting will stay on the website for as long as you want it to. We will not delete it. But remember, it is important to delete your posting once your pet has been located in order to give other pets on the Lostandpound.com the same opportunity to be found.

How can I sign up to receive lost and found email alerts?

On the Lostandpound.com homepage, there is a box on the right side that says, “Join the Lostandpound.com Network!” In that box, simply enter your email address and zip code. You will then receive email alerts when a lost or found pet is posted on the site within 45 miles of your zip code.

Why do I receive email alerts of pets that aren’t close to my house?

Lostandpound.com alerts are sent to email addresses within a 45-mile radius of where a pet was listed as lost or found. A pet can travel this far within a few days of being lost.
